What are the aims of the project?
The Investment in Training Survey collects in-depth information on employer expenditure on training. For more information on the Employer Skills Survey 2024, please click here


How was I selected?
We are talking to employers who participated in the Employer Skills Survey 2024, conducted training over the previous 12 months and were willing to be contacted about this follow-up survey.


What does participation involve?
Participation will involve a short initial conversation, where we send you a datasheet to fill out. We will then call you back to go through the information on the datasheet, (please do NOT return this to IFF) plus a few additional questions. The interview takes much less time to complete than the original Employer Skills Survey interview, on average interviews take about 8 minutes


Why do I need to complete the datasheet?
The datasheet is to make the process easier for you by allowing you to collect information in your own time.


What should I do if I have lost my datasheet?
If you have lost your datasheet, just let us know when we call you back, and we can re-send it to you right away.


Why can't you talk to my head office?
The survey asks about training at site-specific level to understand how approaches vary geographically. If we were to speak to your head office we wouldn't get a complete picture of investment in training at a local level.


How does this benefit my organisation?
The survey provides you with the opportunity to input into research which will help planners develop policies to address employer training needs. The results will be available to view in 2025 on the gov.uk website.


Will my responses be confidential?
Yes - your replies will be treated in the strictest confidence under the Code of Conduct of the Market Research Society. Data will only be linked to your company name with your prior consent. If you do consent for your data to be linked it will be anonymised and only used for statistical purposes.

Will I be able to access the results of the survey?
Yes. The results of the survey will be made publicly available on the gov.uk website in 2025.
